01The Client

An innovator on the water

Hornblower is an innovator on the water, designing events and experiences aboard first-class vessels in New York and San Francisco. For the corporate market, it offered something no ballroom or bar could: a night out with a skyline for a backdrop. The company came to Ruckus for the creative to carry a new advertising campaign built for corporate clients.

02The Assignment

Make the boat the obvious alternative

Typical corporate events toe the line, which is why they're boring and no one wants to go. The job was to make a night on the water the obvious alternative, selling the fun of an event on the water and the ease of booking one, flexible enough to run across two very different markets.

03The Work

Always more fun on the water

Ruckus explored nine concept territories before landing the flagship line, Leave Land, Join the Party, warm and endlessly extendable. A creative device cast everyday colleagues, HR, accounting, the CEO, each one deck away from a better time, carrying the idea across social, email and out-of-home.

04The Campaign

One line, every channel

The platform extended into a full body of creative for New York and San Francisco: out-of-home posters built to stop foot traffic, social and acquisition carousels built to convert, seasonal email sends, and landing pages built for a clear path from idea to booking.
