Film, fiction and fans

With a 200-year heritage, HarperCollins is one of the world's foremost English-language publishers. Ruckus set out to combine film, fiction and fans for Epic Reads, HarperCollins' young adult fantasy brand, and its nearly 1.3 million Facebook followers, built on more than two centuries of publishing history.

02The Work

The Evolution of Fantasy

Ruckus wrote, illustrated, animated and scored eight storybook-style episodes tracing the lineage of the fantasy genre, from its fireside origins to the worlds readers love today. Every scene was hand illustrated, then brought to motion with an original score and narration, and released as an original series on Epic Reads' own channels.

03The Outcome

8,000,000+ views, entirely organic

The series reached its full 1.3 million-follower audience and beyond, earning its views entirely through organic reach with no paid media boost, in a genre HarperCollins has helped shape for two centuries, without spending a dollar to promote a single episode of the series.
