FOURSQUARE
The location layer of the internet
Foursquare is the leading independent location technology platform, and a pioneer of the geo-location space since 2009. From its home in New York, it builds the data, tools and software that help the world's largest enterprises and developers understand the physical world and how people move through it.

Demystifying location
Foursquare had spent more than a decade building the most trusted, independent location technology on the planet, yet to much of the market it still read as the check-in app. The category was thick with jargon and over-promises. The assignment was to give a deep, technical platform one clear, credible voice, and a digital home built to carry every product, audience and use case.
One voice, five pillars
Ruckus built a messaging hierarchy around three voice traits, direct, enthusiastic and witty, and five brand pillars: accuracy, scale, accessibility, independence and privacy-first. A full information architecture mapped every product, solution and developer surface into one navigable home, backed by a modular design system of heroes, colorway bands and CTA patterns, with device mockups putting docs, consoles and live product in front of each audience.
9 billion monthly visits, one clear story
A messaging hierarchy and content system put one clear, credible voice around the entire platform, a complete site architecture mapped every surface into a navigable home, and a modular web design system built to carry foursquare.com and scale with everything it launches next.
