01The Client

The last word in ETFs

etf.com is a destination for exchange-traded-fund news, data, tools and education. Its audience runs from financial advisors and RIAs to institutional and retail investors, all of whom rely on it to turn a fast, complex market into clear, actionable intelligence. Ruckus was brought in to re-brand the property and design a platform capable of communicating complex financial information effectively, for seasoned professionals and newcomers alike.

02The Challenge

A decade behind

etf.com carried real authority and an aging online platform designed more than a decade earlier. Its brand system and blog-style information architecture had fallen out of step with the market it covered: a dated identity, an archive built like a periodical rather than a working financial portal, and dense market data that had to serve experts and first-time investors in the same breath.

03The Work

Newsprint meets emerging tech

Inspired by newsprint and financial periodicals, the redesign bridges traditional finance and emerging technology: serif typography anchors the headers with the credibility of the financial press, while a currency-green overlay guides readers straight to the information that matters. The wordmark went through six typeface studies and five full logo concepts before landing on a lowercase mark with a single green period.

The information architecture was rebuilt around how investors actually work, spanning Dashboard, Portfolio, News, Tools & Data, ETF Topics, Advisor Center and more, alongside a custom tool suite: an ETF Screener, Fund Flows, Compare ETFs, Stock Finder and a homepage ticker crawl, all built responsive from the ground up.

04The Outcome

A blog-style archive, relaunched as a portal

etf.com came out the other side with a full rebrand, from positioning to palette to typography, a blog-style archive re-architected into a portal built for experts and newcomers alike, and a custom tool suite designed to make the market legible.
