01The Client

A father, a son, and faster coffee

Double O's Coffee is a drive-thru coffee company founded by Kurt and Colby O'Brien, a father-and-son team from Central Florida. The idea was premium espresso, organic teas and frozen drinks served fast, with app ordering so every cup is ready the moment you arrive. The O'Briens came to Ruckus with the concept, the drive, and the real estate. Everything else, the name, the logo, the menu, the website, still had to be made.

02The Assignment

Building a brand from nothing

When the engagement began in 2020, the company had no name, no logo, no menu and no website. Ruckus was brought in to build the brand from scratch: strategy first, then naming, identity, packaging and a full web experience, all moving together.

The goal was simple to state and hard to do: find a name and voice the founders would recognize as their own, design an identity bold enough for a drive-thru sign, and roll it out everywhere before the doors opened.

03The Work

A seabird named Double O's

Ruckus ran naming rounds until the founders landed on the name that was theirs all along, two O'Briens, one family business. The tagline, Stay grounded, gives a coffee brand built on speed a wink of calm, a reminder to take a sip and ground yourself before the next stop.

The mark is a frigatebird, an old Florida fishing omen of good luck, folded into the first letter of the name. Ruckus built a full illustration library around the bird and carried it across cups, bags, apparel, signage and a mural, then designed the site around the menu, the map and the app.

04The Outcome

From blank page to open doors

The brand Ruckus built is pouring every day at drive-thru locations in Apopka and Ocoee, Florida. Stay grounded. is still the company's tagline on the site and in the shop, and signature drinks named during the engagement, including The O'Brien, Sand Bar and Coastal Caramel, still headline the menu, with the frigatebird mark growing with every size, from the espresso's egg to the large's full-grown adult.
